The 727 does NOT have OD. It's a 3speed.

They are a very stout transmission, and even came behind the early 5.9L cummins. Those 6.2 GM diesels were turds to the nth degree. I mean TURD. There is not turd polish for a turd that that's a turdy as this turd. Did I mention they're a turd?

Run the 360/727 combo. If it has a switch in the dash or in the glove box, it was the full time 4wd, with low range capability.

yeah dan58 is right the 6.2 blows atleast go 6.6 a regular 350sbc and 700r4 trans would be 10 times better than messing with a 6.2 unless the 6.2 is free. you can build a sbc very cheap like the 383 in my yj iv got $450 invested and it has the touqe and power to turn 44s and pull our 6000 lbs trailer and a k10 mudboger up some preaty steap grades.

he already has the 6.2 and he is also in the process of finishing up a 6.2L YJ swap.
6.2's are really not all that bad. they are not a powerhouse not in their day and especially not compared to today's modern computer controlled diesels. but they were stout engines and in a YJ they will have plenty of power. not to mention they got damn good MPG. if the engine has been properly maintained they are a well built engine and can withstand A LOT of abuse. hence the reason why the H1's used them for many many years even after GM started switching over to 6.5's and duramax's

Exactly.

They run really nice with an intake, cam, and headers too.

Well the day has come, I will be heading up to Quickdraw's house after work with the axle. toss her in there and drive it to my base. We have pathetic security that doesn't care, a retarded amount parking space that doesn't get used and plenty of Jeep love in the parking lot. I am sure she will draw some attention from them but otherwise safe and undisturbed. I have a two of my little brothers projects at my house currently and so when they leave in the coming weeks I will bring it home and start going over it. I am excited to have a Waggy. You tube doesn't have enough video of them to quench my thirst. Damn Jeeps they are so addictive. Pics to come soon. For the mean time I will run stock until I have a built ready to go in replacement. With finances and other things already in the works that may be a little while.

Well I guess no one has really posted much in this section since this post is at the top still. I will be looking at a 89 Waggy this weekend. He wants 500 obo so I am hoping 400 and I can drive off with it. It runs and drives, It was sitting for awhile but started every so often. 212K on the OD but 91K on the motor. Looks to be in great shape form the pictures. Oh the A/C and fuel gauge don't work. The gauge is a concern but shouldn't be that bad of a fix. I want to lift it and play with it. What lift kits do you guys have on yours? This is kind of a budget project since I way too much going on with my finances to go overboard. so if I can get a cheap lift kit and play with it then great.

Everything you could ever want to know about Waggys can be found at ifsja.org. HIGHLY reccomend you stop by over there. Whatever you want to do someone there has already done it and can show you the way.

Jay
I've had 4 Waggys and am without one now - I'm jealose.
