Re: 98 TJ Frame Swap

The fire should have been the tipoff, white Jeeps have been known to be cursed! Seriously, though, all things being equal I'd rather paint the front clip, windshield, and doors than the tub. That, and I'd want the patriot blue over white. Unless you're stripping it down to bare metal the primer isn'...

Re: New Rubistock

Yep, sad to see the old one go, but that's a gorgeous color. So how long until this one starts getting violated?

Re: Rausch this weekend, Feb. 26-28

Great shots and video, thanks for putting them up. I may have been a little bummed that I ended my weekend of wheeling early, but I enjoyed the crap out of myself being out there again. I'll patch things up, start saving for the next upgrade, and aim to get out there again before the summer rush hits.

Interesting fact...

When blowing a ring gear, it may very well sound like an old school telephone ring.

Re: balance beads in tire..

Btw, with that heavy tire you definitely need more weight than 8oz. The pellets need to counteract the out of balance parts of the tire with an equal offsetting weight, and with a heavy 36" tire the half a pound of pellets probably wouldn't be enough.

Re: balance beads in tire..

What weight pellets did you use? The cheap K-mart .12g ones were useless for me. Added another 8oz of .28g pellets in each tire and they did the trick.

Re: New rig

Dang, plans are now to be up in Watkins Glen hiking/camping that weekend. If that date changes then wheeling/camping instead sounds like a plan.

Re: New rig

Congrats man, a real nice find. We have a Highlander with the same sort of third row seat, and regardless of what some folks say that third row is incredibly useful in the mid-size SUV. And I have to be honest, I've got one of the second gen Tundras, which shares the same base as the Sequoia, and if...

Re: Lift Question 1.5 OME

Cool, looking forward to seeing the finished product. For the front bump stops you are Teraflex part# 1903200. Eric (wrks6), who is one of the board moderators here, may be able to help you with that, or you can Google them. You'll need two, and they should cost less than $25 each. That's definitely...

Lol. Yes, there is definitely a purpose to that vacuum line! If it gives you more trouble try re-capping the bung on the carb, and running a small cone filter on the end of the vacuum line with it zip-tied somewhere high and out of the way.

Re: INEVITABLE DEATH WOBBLE. Can't get rid of it! Help!

Is your track bar hidden behind your drag link? Good point. It looks like the track bar is relocated with a drop bracket on the frame side and using the steering stabilizer bracket location on the axle side. I'm not familiar with this setup, but I don't (can't) see any reinforcement or additional s...

Re: 258 Carb help - come help me and I'll pay for drinks and

Cool project, hope to see it soon. As for carbs, well, I've done my darnedest to rid myself of them as far as the toys go and I'm also doing my best to forget what I've had to learn fiddling with them over the years. Without knowing which carb you have, though, I can tell you there's three things I ...
