Re: Exhaust Work

I was planning on just redoing the exhaust off the stock manifolds but the mechanic called me and said there was so much frame rust that he didn't think I should the work and that it may not be safe to drive. Not sure what to do. Is there anyone on here that fixes or welds frames? I thought Manic Me...

Exhaust Work

I have an 85 CJ7 with a Chevy 350. It has dual exhaust coming off manifolds but it's rusty and leaks. I need to get the exhaust replaced from the manifold gaskets all the way back. I live in montgomery county but don't mind driving for good work and an honest price. Where should I go and how much ca...

Re: New Ignition Won't Turn

So I tried to pull the upper tilt housing as shown in Dale's picture below. It would only come off about 3/4 of an inch and then just got stuck and wouldn't go on or off. While it was stuck like this, I found that I could turn the sector manually in either direction. I wasn't stuck. I messed with th...

Re: New Ignition Won't Turn

I got the cylinder lined up with the sector and then fully seated like it was before. The key will turn towards me (counter clockwise) but not clockwise (start). I pulled the cylinder out again and tried to turn the sector with a screwdriver to see if it would turn. It was the same. Turned countercl...

New Ignition Won't Turn

I was able to take out the old steering column and shaft and I found a shaft from an old chevy (maybe 80~ Camaro) that has the tilt. I got it on Craigslist for about $60. Anyways, I've got most of it installed accept for the ignition cylinder. The column didn't have a key when I bought it so I got a...

Tilt Steering Column has collapsed

I have tilt steering in my CJ7. It started to get a little loose and then just completely collapsed. I followed Dale's rebuild procedures, which were very helpful, but now am not sure what's going on. Most of what I've read says that you need to get in and tighten up the 4 x E8 torx and should be go...

Re: TJ Bikini Top and 1 piece channel for sale/trade

The top is black but if you hold it up to the light you can kind of see through it. I'm assuming it's either never been used or maybe a few times. It's in like new condition.

I'd take $50~ for both pieces.

How do I move it to the "for sale" section?

TJ Bikini Top and 1 piece channel for sale/trade

I have a TJ bikini top and a 1 piece channel for sale or trade. It's the kind that allows air and some light to come through but blocks the sun. I also have the 1 piece windshield channel. Let me know if anyone is interested. They're both in like new condition.

Re: AMC 360 won't settle down

From what I read, I think it might be the choke. When it's warm outside, it starts with the choke closed and is probably around 1500 rpm's for maybe a minute and then drops to 800 rpm's. When it's cold outside, it starts at around 2500 rpm's and then drops to about 1800 rpm's when the choke opens. I...

I'm on ifsja but it won't ever let me post for some reason. There is tons of info on there but sometimes other people's posts don't apply exactly to my issue.

AMC 360 won't settle down

I have an AMC 360. I recently replaced the heads, intake, and carb. The intake and carb are Edelbrock Performance 2131 and 1406. I'm trying to get the timing and carb setup and am having issues. I have very limited experience. I took the vacuum advance off and set the timing to 8*. When I hook the v...

Re: SJ Cherokee exhaust

My Flowmaster was taking longer than expected to arrive so I looked it up on Amazon. I used an expired credit card to order. I gave this a lot of thought before reordering. I decided to just go with 2.5 all the way back. I ordered the same muffler in 2.5 and a Walker tailpipe. Should be much easier ...

Re: SJ Cherokee exhaust

In did I should have. Since I've already ordered the 3" in 3" out, can I have an exhaustive shop weld in a reducer right before the muffler?

I figured I'll have a section of 2.5 after the y, where the cat would be, a reducer (or the opposite) to 3", and then the 3" muffler and tailpipe.

Good?
