When I replaced my cracked windshield on the TJ I used Clear View Auto Glass out of Manchester or Hampstead (410-239-3006.) They replaced it in the parking lot at work. It was a good price for full replacement glass and install but not cheap. Do you still work at the Ford dealership? Order yourself a windshield and have one of the techs install it.

CHEAP GLASS REPLACEMENT

Post by rj91jeep » Sat Jun 22, 2013 8:23 pm

Safelite replaced the side window in my truck after some asshole in the city broke it. It was quick and painless. They came to my house and replaced it while I was at work.

that's too bad, the company I deal with, is much cheaper than anyone else,(for me, or other employee's) but then again, we deal exclusively with them.

CHEAP GLASS REPLACEMENT

Post by ReneDave » Sun Jun 23, 2013 10:59 am

I've used Safelite and was really happy with the price and service, but... IMHO the quality of the glass is well below par. Maybe it's just bad luck on my part, but each of the three times I've used them the replacement windshield was shot within the year.

I've also used Smith Auto Glass a couple of times, and been very pleased with the results.

Safelite will charge your insurance company some times. Makes it free out of pocket for you.

Can you duct tape over the crack to hide it?

Don't pooh-pooh him. If he invents glass colored duct tape that'll hold, I'll buy it.
