Maryland Inspection, do I need to get it inspected?

Post by Casey » Fri Mar 25, 2016 10:02 am

Hi,

Currently I am looking at buying a 93 YJ that I know will not pass inspection, however the owner says that since it is registered with historic tags it doesn't have to be inspected on transfer of ownership? Would anyone be able to validate this claim? I looked around the Maryland MVA page and couldn't find anything to confirm this.

Thanks,

Casey.

Actually just found out the answer to this question, sorry!

According to http://www.mva.maryland.gov/about-mva/i ... m#historic you do not need a Maryland Safety Inspection to register the vehicle with historic tags.

There are rules to driving a historic car. I've never been hassled but I saw someone get hassled trying to register it as their only car at a tag and title place. I also have another vehicle.
91 YJ with some rust
