I am going to track teh fuel consumption to RC and back. My speedo isn't connected yet so I will be using my GPS. Not sure on how much lower it hangs then the 4.0 but that wont matter too much when the RE lift goes on.

Well I was looking for gremlins and I found one. A very oily one! The rear main seal needs replacing and its not something I can ignore since I drove it into work and it dripped a little in the parking lot but on the way home for lunch I noticed oil being burned off the exhaust system. I put cardboard under to catch it and determine where it was coming from. Sure enough it appears to be the rear main seal. Wish I had replaced that when I was assembling the motor, Would have made things much easier. I really did not even think about it. luckily I can do it while the motor is in the Jeep. I will just have to raise the motor, remove the saddle so I can remove the oil pan. remove the rear cap and replace the seals. fun fun! At least I found out about this while on my way home and close to home vs. being way off in the middle of no here.

well after a long day of wrenching, I was able to replace the rear main seal. There wasn't much left of the old one when I got in there. The other know issue was when I got it home yesterday and tried to restart it to move it there was very little power left in the batteries. just finished testing that, yup no power from the alt, even after I added power to what I can only determine to be the activation wire. still no power. so yeah I am done for tonight.

How do you have the alt. wired up? do u have it wired as a 1 wire setup where power goes straight from the alt. back to the batteries?

It goes to the power distro block then to the battery. Thats the way it was when I pulled the wiring harness with the other motor.

The alternator tested good (14v actually). So with that installed I took it for a test drive, wow I have missed driving with no top and doors!!!!! :supz: I put my gps in the jeep so I could see how fast I was going since I don't have the gear for the TC I need. I was able to do 65 and 70 with out any effort, so cruising wont be bad at all. I am not sure what my RPMS are just yet but I am working on a solution for that. The replaced rear mail seal looks good, no leaks from that area that I can see. I did find a pin hole in my oil cooler line so I will have to replace that. I tried a temp patch but that didnt last and its on teh pressure side so it is just making a nice mess.

I really wish I was but sadly I am running around PA at this army leadership academy. 0400 wake ups, room inspections, map reading, plotting and planning until I cant see straight. gotta love it. I really cant wait until I get home and can put teh new springs under her. I am hoping to get it done before the Westminister meet. So June 6th might be a build day if anyone is available, I get home on the 5th. Just swapping old lift springs for the new ones. Well back to the fun, I only get a few min on here from time to time.

I started installing the new Rubicon Express springs yesterday. Wow I forgot how much of a pain in the ass these can be. Its a simple task but of course the bolts dont want to come out. I am just using a sawzaw and a grinder with a thin cutting wheel. Lets hope the front goes a little easier.
