Re: Transmission Oil Change
The metal on the plug doesn't look any worse than when I pulled mine to swap the guts over to a new case. 2000 NV3550. I had changed the fluid a time or two over its life. The color of the fluid might have been similar to what is on the paper towel, difficult to tell. If its not burnt smelling then I'd say its fine.
What did you put back in it?

Re: Transmission Oil Change
Is that metal rod bad? Here I am trolling and you're being helpful. The fluid looked ok to me for probably only being changed once in 175k miles if that.
The metal rod really did come out btw.

Re: Transmission Oil Change
Yes the metal rod is bad. But you didn't ask about that so I didnt bother paying attention to it.
If its not a roll pin, and it doesn't look like one but its a bit blurry, then its probably a pin off the shift shaft. Does the transmission shift at all?

Re: Transmission Oil Change
Yea it was shifting fine before I changed it, two dudes posted the exact same pin with a very similar break line on jeep forum. One one replied back but he is still driving his without issue

Re: Transmission Oil Change
I might have that shift shaft in the shed. I'd have to look. If there is enough left in there to move the level then you should be good. Assuming its that pin. I don't recall there being another pin like that in there but its been a while since I had mine apart.
