Post by pookie » Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:57 pm

Whelp I finally got my gears. I had the install kit and got the gears today. I made in appointment and it goes in for the rebuild on Thurs. Sooo I should be up and running by this weekend.

Anyone wanna see pics of what's inside a Liberty rear diff?

Sure! Any insight as to what the source of the issue is? Are they saying just normal wear and tear??

They are saying they are just worn. I assume the 107K miles without changing the fluid, plus the broken vent hose and driving through the puddles at Greenridge, and all contributed to it.

I was trying to find the records but I know it was changed by the stealership under warranty when we were having issues but that was many years ago.

I'll be the first to admit I let the maintenance slip.

I'll get the pics up later tonight.

GREAT!!!! Glad to hear your Libby is back among us! Just got back from RC - MAN had a blast - I hope someone got some photos of me trying to break it!

It did real well! Only two spots where I did not feel that I had the skills to try and after watching the others go through them there is only one that I still feel that way about - other than that nothing fell off and the lift worked as advertised!

Will have to set yours up soon!
See ya!

Yeah I wanted to go on the RC trip even if I had to right seat, but I spent all day doing this to see about fixing the 911. I wanted to just get the motor out and ended up with a stripped long block on the other 1/2 of my garage. Good times but I am beat.

I'll bet - just installing the lift on the Libby kicked my fanny for 2 and a half days - can only imagine what pulling an engine would do! That sure looks like a lot of motor for such a small car!

Ha yeah and there is more not pictured. On the other side of the cooler is two tons of parts. Plus the fuel injection, air box and wiring harness are in the drive way.

It was good though I learned a lot about the car. I also found that one of my rocker arms was broken in half.

You do know I have to strap the cooler of beer to your chest for the tip up to RC, as the back of the Jeep will be filled with spare parts, firewood, and camping gear, though if you right seat
