TF 3" in stall come one, come all..

Post by Brendon » Wed Sep 28, 2011 9:59 am

Boys and Gurls,

New around here, did run a nubbie run with some of the members and looking to beef up for more runs.

Looking to see if i can get a seasoned hand or two and a location to help install lift (i am tool less from my last Ex-wife and coming back from overseas deployment) I am able to use the shop on Fort Detick (i hope, some posts dont let you work on lifts but if you tell them you are chaning the oil and do what you need to do they leave you alone), so if its one or two i could get you on post to help at the auto shop there.

I have done my research and I feel that i could tackle this with no issues solo, but wheres the fun in that...ie taking 8hours instead of 4ish :D (and my end state is not to come away with the Death wobble...)

I have the lift(big thanks to mike for the great deal!), and 35s tires should be here next week, adjustable track bar is sitting next to lift in living room(waiting on pop'in for the adj control arms, will make the assment on the caster to see if i need to add that later...trying to keep costs low!)

so looking to rock it around the 9th of October.

Chow and brewski's included and satisfaction of helping a new kid get back on big boy rubbers...

Not sure if the club has mod meetings... :)

I am too far to help, but when I was stationed at detrick I used the shop all the time. They let you do pretty much whatever you like. The only rule they really have is that you have to be able to roll it outside at the end of the day. They sort of just scratched their heads the day I did my home brew shackle reversal on my CJ. None of them believed I would be able to cut all the front suspension mounts off and get new ones welded back on in one day. Some how, I managed to get it done and have it drive better on the street than before, bent frame and all haha.

I would love to help. As I am sure some of the damage could be attributed back to me. But that is right around the time the wife is trying to pop the kid out, and I sorta need to be pretty close to the hospital. She has already displayed minor aggression at the idea I might be late to that particular party.

Sucks your so far out, but good info on the shop here, thanks. I know the one on post at Fort carson, wanted to kick me out for trying to work on my 76 bronco's front springs. Said it was against post rules or some crap. But he said if i wanted to "change the oil" i could do that. So still got the work done, just had to play the game.

Ugg i know how that goes bro, got 3 boys myself, and one on the way..but at least mine is sill far from popping out.

Haa i attribute the damage to mongo wanting to go over the rocks.(i.e me).

Oh side note, so i have this new bumper and skid plate, i have already primed the skid plate. And have the day off today so i pulled out the bumper to start preping and priming so i can try and toss it on this weekend and the wife can stop having it as a coffee table. But what i am looking at is the back side is full of welds with nooks and crannies that i am not sure i can get the back sides coated and protected from rust. Any ideas? if i take it be Powdercoated will they have the same issue and leave it bear in the back of the weld plates? If so i might as well keep on my painting project. But if they have a ninja way of making sure everything is coated would that be a better run.. check pic for what i am talking about

Do not let Wesleypipes (jeff) touch your jeep. He has sticky fingers.

Hit me up later this week. Not sure what will be on the agenda then. If I am free to help, I'll stop over. I'm 10 mins from Detrick.
