AMA Announces Washington, D.C. Ride into Political Action

Post by wrks6 » Fri Dec 12, 2008 5:15 pm

Each year we help the American Motorcyclists Association (AMA) get the word out about their excellent "Ride into Political Action" seminars. This year, I'd like to add a personal encouragement to all BRC members and supporters to consider attending one of these valuable training events.

I was just talking to Nick Haris, AMA's Western States Representative, about how the political landscape changed with the election. Nick noted that changes occurred not only on the national stage, but also in key state and county races as well. Nick made the point that their Ride into Political Action training was never more important than it is now.

Ric Foster and I couldn't agree more. Please read AMA's notice below and take a minute to check out the information on AMA's website. If you or someone from your club would be interested in attending, please contact AMA's Sharon Smolinka at (614) 856-1900, ext. 1252 or give us a call at the numbers below.

Thanks for your time,

Learn how to make democracy work for motorcyclists at the "Washington, D.C. Ride into Political Action" seminar

Are you tired of politicians not representing your views as a motorcyclist? Are you willing to do something about it?

Whether you're a veteran lobbyist or just a concerned motorcyclist who wants to be heard on Capitol Hill, the American Motorcyclist Association's "Washington, D.C. Ride Into Political Action" seminar is for you.

At this event, set for February 21-24 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, you'll learn from the experts about the issues facing motorcyclists today. And you'll learn the ins and outs of working with members of Congress and federal agencies.

Seminar Agenda:

The seminar kicks off in the evening with a brief nuts-and-bolts session for those who are new to lobbying. A "welcome" reception and orientation for all participants follows.

You dive into the world of government and politics. You learn about state, federal and global issues, and the ongoing efforts of motorcyclists to influence your issues on Capitol Hill.

The seminar moves into high gear. Discussions focus on building relationships with lawmakers, officials, and working with federal agencies. A special guest will be on hand at lunch. The day's discussions wrap up with how to deliver your message to congressional offices. A dinner follows.

This is the payoff day when you put your new skills into practice. After a brief refresher session, you head off to talk with members of your own congressional delegation. Then you take part in a debriefing session, before learning how to strengthen lobbying efforts in your own state.
